Open-Data homework:
The purpose of this exercise is somewhat open-ended. The idea is to take some data and some analysis question from our own work / domain and create use a visual analysis approach to help answer the questions at hand. Also, feel free to use whatever environment you'd like (Tableau, D3, etc.)
If you are lost and would like to get some ideas on what you could do, see, e.g.,
the list of possible projects from the Vis course.
What you should hand in is a report that describes:
- Motivation
- the 'Why': Background information about the problem, tasks, and (potential) users
- the 'What': Characterization of the data available
- Approach - the 'How'
- Description of your visualization design
